Luvabase

Comparisons

Comparisons between Luvabase and other services

Luvabase vs traditional self-hosting

Self-hosting the traditional way (with docker etc) is complex. It often requires you to run cli commands and setup databases which makes it not suitable for regular users.

Traditional self-hosting is also significantly more expensive than Luvabase. With Luvabase apps you only pay for the actual resources it use which normally is pennies. Hosting docker containers normally is $1-10/month.

Luvabase vs native apps (mobile and desktop)

Luvabase apps works together with native apps. You could have a native app that uses a Luvabase app for data backup or syncing data to different devices.

Luvabase vs Pikapods

Pikapods is a similar service to Luvabase and it has inspired Luvabase in some ways. The main difference is that it is an order of magnitude cheaper and easier to run pods on Luvabase. Luvabase does require you to build the app in a certain way however while Pikapods can be used with most existing apps even if they were not designed specifically for Pikapods.

Luvabase vs Heroku/Vercel/Firebase

Although you can self host apps on those platforms they are made for developers making it overly complex for just running apps.
